Typically, the first thing you usually do after taking pictures is to download them to your computer. Zoner Photo Studio makes it easy to acquire photos from a digital camera, as well as pictures and images from a variety of sources including scanners, web galleries, cell phones, and other sources…even the Windows clipboard!
Zoner Photo Studio supports the downloading of pictures from all types of digital cameras. Zoner Photo Studio supports not only cameras and memory card readers that present themselves as Mass Storage devices, but also all devices that can use the WIA (Windows Image Acquisition)* interface, such as Canon cameras.
Zoner Photo Studio saves you time! Zoner Photo Studio can be set to start up right when you plug your camera in to your PC: take advantage of the thumbnails produced by your camera and see your pictures faster than ever before. You'll get started with your organization workflow right away, since Zoner Photo Studio can attach information about who took the picture to your pictures as they are downloaded. Zoner Photo Studio can even automatically sort your photos into folders according to data you specify.
*) Note: On some camera models, it may be necessary to activate PTP Transfer in order to take advantage of WIA.
Thanks to support for the TWAIN interface (the standard for linking applications and image acquisition devices like scanners), you can scan directly into Zoner Photo Studio – regardless of the scanner you are using. It’s even easy to connect a scanner that supports batch scanning.
Sometimes, the Windows Clipboard is the best or only way to acquire a picture or an image. Zoner Photo Studio can open the Clipboard’s contents so that you can view, edit and save the image – all without having to use multiple programs.
With Zoner Photo Studio, you can also acquire pictures through a screen capture. Capture and work with the current contents of the screen or a selected part of the screen. This feature is very handy for sending exact information about what you see on the screen: for example, when sending information to technical support staff to document a problem you are having. It is also useful for the creation of documentation and letters, or when you need to quickly acquire a specific graphic element from a website.
With Zoner Photo Studio, you can automatically save a series of screen captures as separate files, indicating whether or not to capture the mouse cursor, or limiting the screen capture to a specific element such as an icon or feature button on the screen.
The Download from Web Site function is able to save all the pictures located on a specified Web address, such as a Web gallery or a page on MySpace(TM). With Zoner Photo Studio, you can select how deep within the website it will search, the format and type of pictures to download, and picture size (which can be useful to avoid thumbnails, ads and other unwanted content). Zoner Photo Studio can even use login information to log into a page to access desired photos.
To acquire the pictures inside a PDF file as separate picture files, use Acquire Pictures from PDF. Pictures acquired this way will have the same traits as they had before they were placed in the PDF, so their rotation, etc. may change. Pictures in copy-protected PDFs cannot be acquired.
Use the Extract JPEGs from File command to search for probable JPEG-format pictures stored inside a file and save them as separate files.
One way to acquire digital photos is by converting ("developing") files with original, raw source data from digital camera sensors—RAW files. Zoner Photo Studio's professional-quality RAW module enables conversion from over 200 models of digital cameras and many ways to adjust your pictures during conversion itself, giving higher-quality results than you would get if you had to wait until after conversion. You can reach the RAW module from the Acquire menu or using the module switcher at the top of the Manager.
